About Brendan

Brendan O’Hallarn is a professor of public relations at Old Dominion University, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was also a former journalist in his native Canada. Brendan’s research focuses on the intersection of sport and sociology, so he is interested in pools as a cultural gathering space.

Despite being an admittedly poor swimmer, Brendan is using his expertise in media relations to spread the word about the Oak Ridge Pool, particularly through this website. In case it wasn’t obvious, Brendan and Reva are married. They have two kids, and we are happy to report they are excellent, enthusiastic swimmers.
