About David

David Pappas is a proud Oak Ridge native with deep roots in the community. As the son of a chemist at Oak Ridge National Labs and one of nine siblings, David found the Big Pool to be more than just a summer hangout – it was a sanctuary. For a boy with seven sisters, the vast expanse of the pool offered a treasured respite and a place to carve out his own space.

David vividly remembers the thrill of his first jump from the high dive – the unexpected depth he plunged to and the embrace of the cool, spring-fed water at the pool’s deepest point. These memories, shared with his family, have made the Big Pool a cornerstone of his Oak Ridge experience.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in Psychology, David has built a career spanning over 25 years in high-tech and marketing. His expertise in AI and digital strategy has led him to work with world-class brands and launch his own venture, Neurofusion AI.

David’s passion for preserving Oak Ridge’s heritage and his technological skills converge in this project to save the Big Pool. He believes that by combining innovative technology with community engagement, we can ensure that future generations will continue to enjoy this historic landmark, its uniquely cool embrace, and the sense of freedom it offers to every visitor – just as it did for a young boy from a big family decades ago.
